JBW Consulting Engineers is a consulting engineering firm with locations in Duluth/Hermantown, MN and Gillette, WY that provides design and engineering services for clients in the industrial, energy, and infrastructure sectors across North America. We are currently searching for a Structural Engineer III or IV to join our team. Primary focal points for this position include developing detailed designs, overseeing structural drafting efforts, and collaborating with other disciplines in design meetings.

About the Role

JBW is searching for a Structural Project Engineer III or IV to join our team. Primary focal points for this position include developing detailed designs, overseeing structural drafting efforts, and collaborating with other disciplines in design meetings. Applicants should be familiar with applicable codes, best practices, QA/QC regimen, and performance standards and specifications. Up to 20% travel to project sites out of state is required. Strong communication skills with the project team and clients are essential. Secondary focal points for this position include the ability to work independently on projects while contributing as a team player. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of accountability.

The Structural Project Engineer is responsible for engineering and all technical aspects that structural projects require. This role will execute timely and accurate designs for a variety of clients under the supervision of the Structural Engineering Manager. The ability to supervise technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion will be key for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed structural designs

  • Conduct field visits to ensure construction achieves design intent

  • Supervise junior Project Engineers and Designers/Drafters Represent JBW in front of project stakeholders and conduct client meetings when required

  • Manage projects under supervision of Structural Engineering Manager

Requirements

  • Proven track record as a Structural Project Engineer

  • Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD or Revit

  • Advanced MS Office Skills

  • Familiarity with applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications

  • Ability to work on several projects concurrently within multi-discipline teams

  • Project management and supervision skills

  • PE required

  • Time management and organizational skills

  • BS degree in Structural Engineering or related field
