JBW Consulting Engineers is a consulting engineering firm with locations in Duluth/Hermantown, MN and Gillette, WY that provides design and engineering services for clients in the industrial, energy, and infrastructure sectors across North America. We are currently searching for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. Primary focal points for this position include performing engineering calculations to support design work as well as creating and reviewing technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software while following JBW's quality control methods.

About the Role

JBW is searching for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. Primary focal points for this position include performing engineering calculations to support design work as well as creating and reviewing technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software all while following JBW's quality control methods. Up to 20% travel to project sites out of state is required. Strong communication skills with the internal team are essential. Secondary focal points for this position include the ability to work independently on projects while contributing as a team player. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of accountability.

This Mechanical Engineer is responsible for engineering and all technical aspects that mechanical projects require. This role will execute timely and accurate designs for a variety of clients under the supervision of the Mechanical Engineering Manager. The ability to perform detailed documentation to track the project development and design process from conception to completion will be key for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Mechanical Engineering duties related to industrial facilities; these duties vary by project and current workload

  • Perform engineering claulations to support design work

  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software all while following JBW's quality control methods

  • Collaborate with designers, other engineers, project managers, and work with vendors and contractors

  • Perform detailed documentation to track the project development and design process

  • Perform site visits that range from1-5 days, sometimes requiring travel (all expenses included)

  • Ensure project timelines are met and projects stay within budget

  • Build new and maintain existing relationships with clients, vendors, and etxternal resources

  • Other tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

  • 2+ years of experience working in engineering

  • Firm grasp of engineerng concepts and experience designing mechanical systems and products

  • Exceptional math skills and the ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems

  • Experience using CAD software including, but not limited to: Revit, AutoCAD 3D, Plant 3D, and Inventor

  • Exceptional problem-solving and technical skills and reasoning ability

  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly

  • Self-motivated and great team worker
