JBW Consulting Engineers is a consulting engineering firm with locations in Duluth/Hermantown, MN and Gillette, WY that provides design and engineering services for clients in the industrial, energy, and infrastructure sectors across North America. We are currently searching for a Mechanical CAD Technician to join our team. Primary focal points for this position include performing a wide range of drafting tasks and preparing plans, layouts, assembly drawings, detail drawings, and sketches as directed by engineers.

About the Role

JBW Consulting Engineers is searching for a Mechanical Cad Technician to join our team. Primary focal points for this position include identifying and communicating interdisciplinary clashes and potential impacts to design and/or scope that may affect deadlines, workloads, or assignments or the project budget; ensuring the Project Manager/Project Lead is informed immediately of those changes. Provide technical support to other staff. Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into design development and final construction drawings; determine scale and prepare layouts for detailing. Incorporate and make design recommendations; make decisions regarding design suitability using knowledge of structural materials and accepted standard design methodologies. Participate in project coordination meetings with clients and internal project teams; deliver presentation of project status when appropriate.

Pay: $47,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

Responsibilities

·  Adhere to the core values of Relationships, Communication, Integrity, Innovation, and Sustainability as defined by JBW

·  Perform a wide range of drafting/3d m tasks

·  Prepare plans, layouts, assembly drawings, detail drawings, and sketches as directed by engineers

·  Knowledge of building codes, federal transportation regulations, development of details, and the organization of construction documents

·  Revise existing drawings as required and correct "As-Built" drawings

·  Conceptualize and design in a CAD Technician role and communicate successfully in CAD using current industry standards

·  Responsible for maintaining accurate design and drawings archives and revision history

·  Effectively communicate while working in a team environment across multiple office locations

·  Obtain a general understanding of any project goals, constraints, and schedule requirements

·  Proactively provide status updates, discuss challenges, and address plan revisions

·  Deliver complete and accurate drawings within schedule, budget, and other project parameters

·  Compute calculations under the direction of a designer or engineer

Requirements

·  AAS degree in drafting and design, engineering, or related field

·  Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience

·  Previous discipline-focused experience preferred

·  Oil/gas industry experience preferred

·  Have an intermediate understanding of AutoCAD 3D, Revit Structure, and Inventor

·  Moderate skillset in Autodesk 3D products (Civil3D, etc.)

·  Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam

·  Must have a good mathematical background to handle common calculations

·  Willing to learn new skills and work as a team to meet deadlines

·  Willing to travel up to 10%
