JBW was retained to provide design engineering services for a material handling/conveying system. The conveyor system's purpose was to collect, index, label, and move bundles of siding as they exited a heat tunnel and deliver them to an operator with a Dalmec Lift Assist Arm after a 90-degree transfer.
The challenge that presented itself was designing a process to allow the product to stack up while the operator was away and index the product once the operator returned and lifted the first bundle.
The conveyors speed and size were specified based on product bundle size and flow rate. A controls narrative was written by JBW to clearly communicate the operational intent of the system to the end user and programmer.
